Dr Rinda Blom wrote the book “Through the eyes of a child” after twenty years of play therapy experience with children in private practice.  In the book she focuses on children and their emotional development and guides parents to understand what children need most during each phase of development. Practical examples out of her own practice is used throughout

 

In chapter 2, attention is given to ways to raise children's emotional intelligence and emotional consciousness.  Practical examples are used to illustrate certain concepts throughout.

 

The improvement of your relationship with your child is the focus in chapter 3.  Attention is given to different attachment styles, as well as how to make use of special time to improve your bond with your child.

 

In chapter 4, attention is given to your child’s self-image, as well as ways to improve your child’s self-esteem.  Specific attention is also given to house-rules that may influence a child’s self-image negatively and when a parent’s behaviour becomes toxic for children.  Practical examples are given on ways of improving your child’s self-esteem.

 

Chapter 5 addresses the difficult concept of disciplining your child, as well as positive and negative parenting styles and the effect of this on children’s emotional well-being.
